Histoires de Parfums treats fragrance like literature, a collection of stories told through raw materials rather than words.

Founded in Paris in 2000 by perfumer Gérald Ghislain, the French house draws inspiration from extraordinary people, iconic years, literature, music and art. Each fragrance becomes its own chapter, translating a character, moment or idea into scent.

The collection is deliberately eclectic. The Characters fragrances are named after the birth years of influential figures, while other chapters explore everything from opera and poetry to abstraction and the avant-garde.

From the seductive richness of 1969 and the tobacco-laced warmth of 1899 Hemingway to the cult-status of This Is Not A Blue Bottle, Histoires de Parfums moves freely between classical French perfumery and something far more provocative.

Rich woods, spices, florals, leathers, resins and unexpected accords give the collection its depth. There is sophistication here, but never predictability. Every bottle has something to say.
